Crippled Bear Inn - History

The Crippled Bear Inn started in the 1940s. Everyone asks us,"So why are you called the crippled bear?" Well, we got our name from a local who saw an injured bear limping through the property. Shortly after that we were able to catch the crippled bear and care for him. In turn we extended his life, and he became a tourist attraction. That's how The Crippled Bear Inn got its name.

Over the years, from gas station to downhome style restaraunt , many things at the Crippled Bear Inn have changed, but the one thing that stays the same is our commitment to our customers. We take pride in offering great tasting food at fair prices with a downhome atmosphere.

We're known for our famously delicious Burgers and Hot Wings, but to many others we're much more than that. We're a place to relax and grab a drink with a friend. We're the Bike Night hot spot once a week. We're the place to go to have a great time that never has a cover charge.

And for those who love to be outside in the warmer months we have our heated pavillion out in the courtyard! Horseshoes, Outdoor Grilling, Bands, DJs, Solo Artists, and Bike Nights make the Crippled Bear's outdoor area the place to be From April through October.

If you're looking for a change, and you want it to feel like home eventhough your not, stop on by the Crippled Bear it's the place for good folks, great food, and good ole downhome fun!
